Information:  

  On Saturday, September 23, 2017, 11:25am, the Green Lake County E911 Communications Center received a call concerning a weapon related incident where a man fled into an apartment with a firearm.   This incident occurred in the City of Green Lake, Green Lake County, Wisconsin.

  City of Green Lake Police and Sheriff’s Office units arrived at approximately 11:28am and determined that an adult female, and downstairs neighbor, adult male, had fled the residence. Another adult male was reported to be in the up-stairs apartment with a weapon. A law enforcement perimeter was established and the Green Lake Combined Tactical Unit was paged. The Sheriff’s Office “Code Red” emergency notification system was also used to notify Green Lake residents of the possible danger.

  With a command post established, equipment was summoned and efforts began to reach out to the male party to establish communications. As this was being conducted, the male party appeared from the upper apartment. The male party had serious life threatening injuries. With Emergency Medical Services on-scene, arrangements were made with Flight for Life for emergency medical transport. The subject was transported by helicopter to Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah.

  An extensive investigation is being conducted into this incident which appears to be domestic related. Authorities have confirmed that a struggle over the firearm had taken place just prior to the 911 call. The adults involved are a 26 year old female, 50 year old male, and the seriously injured male is age 28, all from Green Lake. All names are being withheld during the investigation. The community is not believed to be in any danger.

  This incident is being investigated by the City of Green Lake Police and Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office. Assistance was provided by the Green Lake Combined Tactical Unit, Wisconsin State Patrol, Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Fond Du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and Tactical Bearcat Unit, Green Lake Ambulance and Medic, ThedaStar Flight for Life, and Green Lake/Brooklyn Fire Department.

  As a result of the weapons incident in the City of Green Lake on Saturday, September 23, 2017, 11:25am, the investigation thus far has confirmed that the injuries sustained by the 28 year old male were self-inflicted occurring in the upper apartment. The adult male remains hospitalized with serious injuries.

  The City of Green Lake Police have identified the 28 year old male as Matthew W. Arbogast of Green Lake. The investigation continues into this incident with criminal charges expected to be referred to the District Attorney within the coming weeks.
