Slow-No-Wake Fox River Berlin

Slow-no-wake is defined as operation at a speed as slow as possible while maintaining the ability to navigate.  

According to Emergency Management Director Gary Podoll, as of Monday, May 1, the Fox River at Berlin is at 13.15 feet and is expected to crest at 13.3 up-coming.  Flood stage is expected to continue until about May 7.  When the Fox River goes under 13.0 feet, according to USGS Gauge BERW3, the ordinance restrictions will be removed.

The Sheriff’s Office has received calls concerning boats operating at higher rates of speed in Berlin.  Ordinance #266.6, enacted in 2013, is meant to preserve property owner’s shoreline and natural resources during those times when the Fox River is above the bank.  Sheriff Mark A. Podoll, Green Lake County, is asking for cooperation from boaters and fisherman during this time.

Citizens observing violations should obtain a boat registration number, description of the boat, and a direction from where the boat was launched.  Enforcement for Slow-No-Wake violations will take place by the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office.  The fine for first offense is $232.00.
