Information:

On Sunday, May 10, 2015, at approximately 5:29pm, the Green Lake County E911 Communications Center received a call of a serious personal injury crash on Sth.44, North of Lakeshore Drive, in the Township of Green Lake. The location of the incident was reported to be about 3 miles North of the City of Markesan.

Deputy and Emergency Services staff began to arrive at the scene at about 5:38pm and found that a full-size semi truck and trailer had left the roadway and rolled over. The adult male operator was seriously injured and was also pinned inside of the tractor. Markesan Jaws of Life were required to extricate him. Once free from the wreck, the male operator was transported from the scene and flown by Flight for Life to Theda Clark Regional Medical Center in Neenah.

A preliminary investigation into the incident has revealed that an 82 year old Richland Center man was operating a 2006 Sterling tractor and trailer hauling milk. The tractor trailer was Southbound on Sth.44 when control of the rig was lost. The tractor trailer entered the West ditch and overturned. Extensive damage was done to the rig and some of the contents of the trailer was spilled into the ditch and adjacent field. The tractor trailer unit was the only involved vehicle.

An investigation into the cause of this crash continues by the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol Inspector Division.

The crash incident was responded to by The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Markesan EMS, Markesan Fire Department, Markesan Emergency Management, and the Green Lake County Highway Department.
