Information:

On October 31st 2013, at approximately 6:47pm the Berlin Police Department was notified by Green Lake Co. Communications Center thart they received a phone call by an unknown male subject stating that there was a bomb in a Berlin Factory that would explode at 8:30pm.

On November 11th, 2013 at approximately 8:04am the Green Lake County Communications Center received a bomb threat phone call from the same male subject stating, “There are two bombs going to explode in Berlin Factories at nine o’clock, back to back.”

The diligent efforts of Berlin Police Officers allowed for the identification, apprehension, and confession of Anthony P. Peterson, age 29, of Ripon WI. He is currently in custody in the Green Lake County Jail on charges of DISORDERLY CONDUCT ss.947.01 (2 counts) class “A” MISDERMEANOR, and BOMB SCARE ss.947.015 (2 counts) which is a class “I” FELONY in the State of Wisconsin.


The Bomb Threats created by Anthony Peterson were
extremely disruptive to
the Berlin Business community where there were large economic losses from both the businesses and those employed at those effected businesses. There were a total of 18 businesses affected by the two separate bomb threats. The Berlin Police Department will be working with those businesses and employees to identify the exact economic losses and forward those to the Green Lake Co. District Attorney to request restitution through the court, Said Chief of Police, Dennis W. Plantz.

Today’s technology and its advances have allowed law enforcement the ability to track down and apprehend those responsible for perpetrating crimes through the use of computers, cell and smart phones, and any other electronic devices, “It’s just a matter of time before you’re caught”, says Chief Dennis W. Plantz.

The Berlin Police Department was assisted by the Berlin Fire Department /Emergency Management, Green Lake Co. Sheriff’s Office, Brown Co. Bomb Squad, City of Ripon Police Department, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
